Teaching Violet to go on a pee pad.
When you train a puppy to go "pee" whether on a pee pad or outside it is important that they remain bored so they can focus on what their body is telling them. Owners tend to make the mistake of walking around with their puppy or talking to them when they really need to be relaxed so they can understand what they need to do. Only after they have gone should you play them.
"Place"
I took Violet with me to Colborne where I teach some of my classes and while there I thought we would work on the command "Place"
"Leave It"
Today I am teaching Violet a four month old "Morkie" to "Leave it" and learn to ignore something. Because she is very small and fast it is necessary to put a leash on her to start this kind of training so if she does grab the object I can quickly correct her. It is important to demonstrate to your puppy that you are in control and you can back up what you are saying. You don't even have to hold the leash just leave it on the floor that way you can step on it if you need to in order to prevent her from leaving the area or running into another room.
