What is Puppy Boot Camp?
Hello, I'm Cathie Hudson, Dog Trainer and owner of My Bark Avenue Academy.
I've made this video to explain what happens at Puppy Boot Camp and I hope you find it helpful. For more information, contact me directly and let's have a conversation about how I may help you train your puppy. |
|
Purpose:
Boot camp is a way to give your puppy some fundamentals (like potty training, leave-it, leash training) that can frustrate new dog owners and stand in the way of proper, positive, and fun training. Training is about repetition, and the earlier your puppy can get ingrained with the essentials needed for future development, the better for your puppy and for you. Your puppy will be happier to know what’s expected of them and you will be less overwhelmed which will lead to the development of a more positive relationship between you and your puppy.
Expectation:
Boot Camp is not a substitute for obedience class or at-home training. Boot camp will give your puppy a good start, but you should not expect a perfectly trained puppy after one week. The responsibility will be on you as leader of the pack to continue training your puppy and if needed, attend obedience classes. One week of one-on-one training will be invaluable, however, dog training is a long haul.
Care:
Your puppy will be in a safe environment, kept away from other unvaccinated animals or any high-traffic dog areas, such as popular grassy spots etc.. Young puppies not fully vaccinated are susceptible prior to all their shots, and we take every precaution and effort to keep them safe and healthy and they are well monitored for any signs of issues. Your puppy will be socialized with friendly, older dogs, that are safe to be around. This ensures that your puppy has companions for the week away from home and learns important social skills.
Contact:
Leaving a puppy behind can be difficult, but my apprentices and I will be available for private daily updates by phone or email! Videos of your puppy's progress may be shared on our social media.
Emergency:
In case of an emergency, every owner needs to be in a position to take their puppy at any point, or have a secondary contact identified who can take the puppy. Boot Camp is not boarding, and should there be an emergency, someone must be available.

Why send your puppy to Boot Camp?
Are you getting a new puppy, or having difficulty training the one you have? Then our Puppy Boot Camp is just for you.
I will take your puppy into my home for one full week and teach your puppy foundation life lessons that they need to know including housebreaking. After a few days with me, you will get updates as to your puppy’s progress. Once you're home with your puppy, I will provide you with ongoing support as needed. |
